FAIR TIME MEANS BIG TIME FEATURE RACING THIS SATURDAY, JULY 20TH AT LACROSSE

County fairs have showcased the best and most talented individuals for years.  Events like the livestock judging and auctions, horse pulls, arts and crafts exhibits and judging, and archery tournaments put the best of the best in the spotlight.  There are also unique events that will happen during the LaCrosse Interstate Fair like the Kids’ Pedal Tractor Pull, Thursday Night Street Drags, the Super Farmer Olympics and live entertainment all week long.  All of these events and many more, plus the free parking and free admission, help to make the 133rd Annual LaCrosse Interstate Fair the county’s special summer get-together.

What would a summer get-together be without the sound of stock car engines roaring to life?  That takes place on Saturday, July 20 as Wisconsin Kenworth returns to sponsor the Fair Time 50 show for a second straight year.  The Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Models will battle hard and close in a huge 50-lap feature, which will include a break at the halfway mark of the feature for the teams to make adjustments to their race cars.  There will also be big money on the line once again as the winner of the 50-lap main event will pick up a hefty winner’s check of $1,000, just part of a huge feature purse of $7,800 for the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Models.  The top ten finishers will pick up anywhere from $100 to $200 more for racing in this huge A-main.

Last year’s 50-lapper was a good Oktoberfest Race Weekend warm-up for Dan Fredrickson.  The Lakeville, MN veteran took the lead just before the mid-race point and dominated the rest of the way to score a rare regular season victory at LaCrosse.  Now Dan has turned over the driving duties to his 15 year old son Ty.  It has been an impressive first half of 2024 for young Mister Fredrickson with major feature wins across the Midwest. Could we see Ty make an appearance and keep the Fair Time 50 in the Fredrickson household for another year?  There is another big showdown that no doubt will occur in the 50-lap feature between Jacob Goede, running weekly here at LaCrosse after 10 straight track titles at Elko, and reigning track champion Skylar Holzhausen.  The first showdown of this heavyweight fight took place back on June 8.  That battle was claimed by Goede, who leads the point standings entering the Wisconsin Kenworth Fair Time 50 and has amassed five feature wins since last Oktoberfest.

This huge Saturday night of fair racing will also include the NASCAR Sportsmen, the Skyline Fireworks NASCAR Hornets, the Auto Value Six Shooters, the Auto Value Mini-Vans, the Drive-Thru Novelty Race and a pre-Oktoberfest appearance by the Upper Midwest Vintage Racing Series.  Spectator gates open at 5:30, the battle to be the ‘fastest of the fair’  in qualifying revs up shortly after that and the quest for the racing ‘blue ribbons’ kicks off at 7.  For more information about the LaCrosse Speedway or the  Saturday, July 20 program, you can call the track office at 608-786-1525 or visit our web site at lacrossespeedway.com.  Tickets can be purchased in advance for Saturday’s show through the web site.  LaCrosse Speedway is proud to be a NASCAR Hometrack, part of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series.
