ONALASKA, WI – A fantastic turn out of championship drivers and other celebrities attended the Champions Reunion October 9th, which was held as part of the 42nd Annual Oktoberfest Racing weekend at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway, West Salem, WI.

The third running of the event held on Sunday, the last day of ‘Fest featured drivers from all over Wisconsin and neighboring states. Dick Trickle who was among the close to 60 attending, signed autographs and entertained fans for hours while other notables Tom Reffner, Jim Sauter, Marv Marzofka, Tom Jones and Jerry “Scratch” Daniels made a day of it at the event.

Surprise visits by 8 time Rockford, ILL, Speedway champion Scott Lawver and dirt track racing stars Tom Steuding and Leon Plank spiced up the afternoon event as well. Donald Denny who built and promoted the North La Crosse Speedbowl, the track in the area holding races before La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway was built dropped in to check things out as well.

A big attraction as part of the show was the Ernie Tuff 1932 Ford Coupe race car which was on display along with Tuff himself who chatted with fans all day. The Tuff race car is significant in that it was raced to numerous wins at the Northside Speedbowl track in the 1960s. When the car was fired up fans who were allowed to mix and mingle with the attendees packed the Hospitality Chalet where the event was held for a look and listen.

With the success and steady growth of the event which is open to any race driver from any division throughout the United States, paved or dirt track who is a series, track or Oktoberfest race champion and retired from the sport for at least three years, plans are already underway for the 4th Annual event to be held as part of Oktoberfest, October 8th 2012.
