When two drivers battle tooth and nail for a feature victory, the intensity ramps up even more when those competitors are track or series champions. Watching two drivers that reached the top of the mountain for a championship are out to prove who is the better competitor at their track or in the series they race in. The drivers saluted the fans at the LaCrosse Speedway with our annual Fan Photo and Autograph Night. The fans witnessed a very hard fought battle in the late stages of the NASCAR Late Model feature between the two most recent king pins of the division. Skylar Holzhausen got the better of Jacob Goede over the final nine lap showdown that thrilled the fans and made Skylar the first driver to claim a second feature win in 2026.

The 25 lap Bobcat of the Coulee Region feature for the NASCAR Late Models saw Michael Beamish (Eagan, MN) get the better of a side-by-side duel with Jeremy Wolff (Chaska, MN) on lap two. Steve Carlson (West Salem, WI) got a run down the back straight to surge past Beamish to move into first at the end of lap three. Carlson would not have it easy after that as Nick Clements (West Salem, WI) stuck right behind Carlson as they both pulled away from the pack. Carlson began to open a slight advantage on Clements as Adam Bendzick (New Prague, MN) was slowly catching Clements. As the field reached the halfway mark, Clements closed back up on Carlson’s rear bumper and they again began to open a gap on the pack. Clements was having a hard time keeping up with Carlson as he slowly pulled away. The field would re-rack after Robert Bradley (Sparta, WI) suffered a flat tire that slowed him with nine laps left to run. Clements chose the outside lane for the restart but may have had contact with another car in turn two while Brian Lee (Holmen, WI) spun in turn one. Adam Degenhardt (Coon Valley, WI) found himself on the outside of Carlson on the second try to restart, but going three-wide in turn two caused Degenhardt to hit the outside wall. Skylar Holzhausen (Bangor, WI) found himself behind Carlson on the third try to restart the feature and he wasted little time to shoot past Carlson, who fell to third after Jacob Goede (Carver, MN) got by him. The two most recent track champions waged an intense battle over the final seven laps, but Holzhausen kept Goede in his rear view to become the first repeat feature winner of 2026 and add a little more to his lead in the points race. After the race Holzhausen said “It was a weird couple of restarts there, but we need to keep an eye on each week’s program and let the points race take care of itself.”

June 13, 2026 Sportsman Feature Winner

The NASCAR Sportsmen feature saw Jamie Dummer (Tomah, WI) roar past rookie Landon Lockington (Mindoro, WI) to lead the early going. After a spin in turn four by Jesse Vian on lap three, Jacob Lodermeier (Elko New Market, MN) tried to keep pace with Dummer on the restart. After powering under Zach Oliver (Rockland, WI) for third on lap five, Charles Vian, Jr. (Sparta, WI) began to slowly roll up on the leaders. Vian, Jr. got an opening down the front straight on lap seven to move by Lodermeier for second and go after Dummer. After running side-by-side for a number of laps, Vian, Jr. got a run on Dummer coming out of turn four to secure first place with five laps to go. Mike Kreuger, Jr. (Sparta, WI) tried to catch the leader over the final few laps, but Vian, Jr. had too large of a lead to claim the feature triumph.

June 13, 2026 Hornet Feature Winner

Nick Hadler shot past Bentley Knaack to lead the first half of the NASCAR Hornet feature. Shawn Strangstalien made his way through traffic to move into second on lap five and tried to chase down Hadler. After a spin by Ben Kohlmeier in turn four on lap nine, Strangstalein got a lot of pressure from newcomer Wally Olson on the restart. Olson eventually moved into the runner-up spot on lap nine. Olson caught and dove low on Hadler to take command of the race with four laps remaining. Olson held off Joey Johnson to score his first career feature win in just his third ever start at LaCrosse.

June 13, 2026 6 Shooter Feature Winner

The Six Shooter feature saw Brandon Bion charge by Bryon Olsen to lead the early going. Slower traffic allowed Olsen to power back by Bion to take command of the race on lap three. Soon Dan Osthoff and Bryan Schott would make an Olsen sandwich trying to go three wide, but it would be Schott coming out of the battle with the lead on lap five. Alivia Moore made some bold moves through the field and lapped traffic to quickly catch up to Schott, who she powered around for the lead position on lap nine. Last year’s HSRA champion put in another dominant performance to take the checkered flag victory.

June 13, 2026 Mini Van Feature Winner

Heat race winner Alex Rud led from the start of the Mini-Van feature. Rud would be hounded by Matthew Parent, whose race vehicle was running better after dealing with a mechanical issue during his heat race. Ryan Stanfield became a problem for the lead twosome after we passed the mid-race mark. Stanfield tried time and time again to drive around Rud for the lead, but Rud stood his ground and captured his first feature win in a while.

This week’s Novelty event was the Drive-Thru race. The drivers had to drive up to the McDonald’s sign to toss a bucket of popcorn from their race car into the bucket. If they do not hit the bucket, they get black flagged. All but one driver missed the bucket right from the start of the race, but Alex Rud was the only one that hit the target on the final lap to win the race.

Our regular weekly divisions get a week off for some good clean hard hitting fun next Saturday, June 20. We celebrate the first weekend of summer with the annual Smash-O-Rama, sponsored by Rod’s Ride-On Powersports. You will get to witness a number of wild and crazy stunts during the night, monster trucks catching big air, a jet car melting down a vehicle out of its misery, racing with the Mini-Vans and Six Shooters, the Boat Race of Destruction and a huge aerial fireworks show to conclude the night. Gates open at 5:15, qualifying for the Mini-Vans and Six Shooters revs to life at 5:30 and the smashing good times start at 7.
