If you’re a race fan in the LaCrosse Area, it’s a week of racing you shouldn’t miss. This Saturday night, Bobcat of the Coulee Region presents the final weekly racing showdown of all the local cars and stars of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.

The heart-pounding action of the Tobacco Outlet Plus Grocery Late Models will keep fans on the edge of their seats in TWO 20-Lap feature races. Action also includes the Dean’s Satellite Sportsmen, and on the quarter mile action track, the Auto Value Thunderstox and Auto Value Street Stocks.

Gates open at 6:00, with Qualifying following at 6:15. After qualifying fans will be treated with a cruise down the frontstretch of many classic and muscle cars from the Holmen Kornfest Car Show. Racing gets started at 7:30.

General Admission is $13.50, students age 12-17 are $7.50, kids age 6-11 are $3 and children ages 5 & under are admitted in FREE. Acres of FREE Parking is available for your convenience.

MOST COMPETITIVE LATE MODEL SEASON IN YEARS

The 2017 season has flown by and a number of different drivers have won Tobacco Outlet Plus Grocery Late Model features, including four who have won their first at LaCrosse Speedway. Those include current Point Leader Nick Panitzke, Jesse Pokszyk, Ty Reedy and last week’s winner Jacob Goede. By the end of the event this Saturday, could we see additional names added to the list of different winners? One driver to bet on might just be Cole Howland. Howland has been strong much of the season and is close to getting back into the winner’s circle, and sits third in standings behind leader Panitzke and Steve Carlson.

Twenty points separate Randy Humfeld from his closest rival in the Dean’s Satellite Sportsmen division. Brad Warthan is just 20 points behind in standings, and both have won four features to date. One driver has won his first win this year, and that was Adam Oxborough on August 5th.

Adam Moore has shown his dominance this season in the Auto Value Thunderstox each week, but he has not yet locked up the title. With two features to go this Saturday and then at Oktoberfest on October 5th, Jason Bolster still has not given up and mathematically still could catch Moore.

CHASE NARROWS TO SIX DRIVERS THIS WEEK

The Late Model Chase, which began in July, started as the top sixteen drivers and has been narrowing down each week. There are six drivers remaining, including Steve Carlson, Panitzke, Howland, Mike Carlson, Nick Clements and Jesse Pokszyk. Two more will be eliminated this Saturday, and the final four will battle at Oktoberfest for the title.

In the Sportsmen Chase, Humfeld, Warthan, Steve Bachman, Jeff Thompson, Oxborough and Marc Luethe are all in it heading into this week’s feature. Again, four drivers will be eligible for the title at the Oktoberfest Race Weekend.
