With the hectic lifestyle we lead today we have to take a break and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. With bills to pay, everyday household problems and in-laws that make us lose our minds, it is nice to get away from daily life struggles for a few hours. That is where the LaCrosse Speedway can help us all out with some good hard hitting destructive fun during the annual Smash-O-Rama. We all feel like kids with all the thrilling jumps, smashing, crashing and bashing that leaves us going “OOOOHHH” and “AAAAHHH”. There were also some very competitive racing action that left fans on the edge of their seats.
It was a Moore sibling battle in the Six Shooter feature between Andy and Matt. Andy took the lead of lap three, then held back the challenges of Matt over the final few laps to capture his first victory at LaCrosse in a few years.

Matthew Parent powered to the lead of the Mini-Van feature on lap three. Hard contact between the drivers battling over second allowed Parent to pull away and hit the finish line in first.

In the Camper T-Bone Crash, John Huebner took a big leap off the ramp and made a solid strike in the middle of the camper to shatter it to bits. Huebner even had a portion of the camper draped over his SUV.
Shannon and Sawyer Schmidtman are known as the Twin Stunts, identical twin brothers that started out competing in motocross and became professional motorcycle stunt riders. They performed various motorcycle stunts that thrilled and excited the crowd. They competed in a race around the ‘action track’ quarter mile while doing wheelies. In their second appearance, one of the Schmidtman brothers rode a front flip motorcycle and did a complete 360 rotation without leaving the ground or the bike.
The Six Shooters competed in the Double Spin to Win Novelty event. Dan Osthoff got out to a quick lead at the start, was the first to complete both of his spins, and remained ahead of Rob Stanfield to score the victory.

The MIni-Vans got their own Novelty event in the 2nd Over the Line Wins race. John Huebner got a bit loose midway through the race and nearly spun out. Huebner was able to hold on and then made contact with Fletcher Milene that pushed him across the line. That allowed Huebner to finish second and capture the checkered flag win.
Marshall Rinartz was selected to obliterate a piano and its 88 keys in the Piano Smash. Rinartz perfectly hit the piano and smashed it into a big pile of dust and itty bitty pieces.
The Monster Trucks put on yet another impressive high flying jumps and massive crunching of cars. Josh Baumgartner (Litchfield, MN) brought back the legendary Bigfoot monster truck, while Jay Bozart (Janesville, WI) thrilled the crowd with his home built Blue Ox monster truck.

Drivers brought out their everyday vehicles to compete on the ‘action track’ quarter mile in Contact Spectator Drags. One competitor suffered an issue with his right front wheel. Two racers started to bump and bang with each other the minute the green light popped on. The final saw Fletcher Milene collide with his son hard Adam before dumping him in turns one and two to drive away with the win.
Matthew Parent participated in the Pool Splashtacular with an added twist this time around. Instead of smashing through one pool, Parent would smash through two pools full of water and beach balls. Despite being a bit water logged and with his hood up, Parent perfectly hit both pools to smash both of them and beach balls flew everywhere.
The Boat Race of Destruction was another smashing good time with boats of all shapes and sizes busted and broken to bits. As always the fans would have the final say on the winner. Jared Novak, a veteran of destruction races, got a louder approval from the fans over Hornet driver Jacob Iverson to be crowned “King of Destruction”.
The Magdatude jet car had a 2-for-1 special on vehicle burn downs tonight. Not only did Josh Baumgartner’s wife get to burn down an old SUV, but the track decided to throw in a Six Shooter that only ran one race this season. It only took about five minutes to reduce both vehicles to their bare metal frames and left everyone in awe of the car-be-que. After those ground fireworks it was time to wrap up the night with the biggest aerial fireworks show in western Wisconsin.
Now that we had some fun racing to start up the summer, join us for another thrilling night of high speed action next Saturday, June 21. The Late Models, Sportsmen, Hornets, Street Stocks, High School Racing Association will be in action along with the unpredictable Drive-Thru Novelty Race. The kids will get a chance to ride in an actual race car during the next round of KQ98 Kids’ Rides following qualifying. Gates open at 5:15, the fight to be the king of the qualifying mountain starts at 5:30 and racing roars to life at 7.
