ACTION PACKED FUN ON THE QUARTER MILE AT LACROSSE

The quarter mile oval at the LaCrosse Speedway has been known as the “Action Track” since it debuted in 1987. Tonight the little track got its time in the spotlight during the Quarter Mile Mania event. All the quarter mile divisions were in action along with a couple unique events, making for an exciting night of fun racing for everybody.

The highlight of the night was the first ever Demolition Derby at LaCrosse in at least 25 years. Eight cars fought to be the “King of Demolition” for the night. There was a lot of smashing and crashing in the event. Many hard hits knocked out several cars during the race. It came down to Adam Moore and Dustin McCracken to see who would win the battle of survival. Moore gave McCracken a couple hard hits that knocked McCracken out of bounds and gave Moore the victory.

The Hobby Stock feature saw a thrilling finish between Bill Schott and Kaleb Hardy. They battled side by side for the final few laps. Hardy had the lead with one lap to go, but Schott muscled his way under Hardy to cross the finish line in first.

Two late race cautions turned the Hornet feature into an exciting down to the wire finish. Jimmy Bjorkman survived a one lap shootout with Patrick Thicke to become the sixth different Hornet feature winner in 2019.

Dan Frye drove around Tristan Drazkowski to take the lead on lap six of the Street Stock feature. Frye would pull away from the pack to run away with the victory.

In the Mini Van feature, Rob Stanfield almost wound up in the wall in turn three after making contact with Tom Farra on lap five. Stanfield would recover from that incident to get around Matt Bornheimer with three laps to go to win the feature.

Any cars from all divisions racing participated in the Contact Drags, a unique twist to the Friday Night Street Drags. In this event, cars had to make contact in a certain area before crossing the finish line. In the best two out of three final, Jason Bolster out muscled Dustin Olson in the first two races to capture the win.

Action continues with another Friday Night Street Drags event on Friday, July 12. Bracket racing starts at 7:30. Then on Saturday, July 13, the Late Models, Sportsmen, Hobby Stocks and Street Stocks will be joined by the Upper Midwest Vintage Racing Series. Bring your goodie bags along for the rescheduled Fan Photo & Autograph Night. The Novelty division will also be in action in the Double Spin to Win race. Gates open at 6:00, the Fan Photo & Autograph session starts at 6:15 and racing begins at 7:30.
