Ty Majeski has made it look easy when it comes to the NASCAR Kwik Trip Late Model field at La Crosse Speedway as he has won 7 out of the 8 features he’s been in at the famed 5/8 mile track so far in 2016. But tonight, between Cole Howland having the fastest car he’s had all season at the track tonight and the always competitive Carlson duo, Steve and Mike, Majeski had to work for his seventh feature win.
Cole Howland took the lead early in lap 2 of 25 in the NASCAR Kwik Trip Late Model feature and held onto it until lap 15 when Ty Majeski took it from him but it wasn’t a done deal for Ty from there like usual. Lap 20 brought out two cautions in a row that tightened up the field and Howland and the Carlson’s made Majeski work for the remaining 5 laps to pull off his win. Steve Carlson took second by half a car length, Mike Carlson finished third, and Cole Howland ended the night fourth.
The Dean’s Satellite Sportsmen feature showed us not one, not two, but THREE cautions in the final 5 laps and a photo finish at the finish line. Brad Warthan and Devin Schmidt were bumping and grinding back and forth with each other in laps 5 through 15 of the 15-lap feature event. But in the end it was Devin Schmidt who crossed the finish line by half a bumper before Warthan tonight at the La Crosse Speedway. Brad Warthan took second and points leader, Nick Clements was also close behind in third.
The Auto Value Thunderstox feature winner tonight was won with half a lap remaining in the 15 lap feature when Andy Moore passed Scott Mahlum. Scott Mahlum finished second and Kyle Lockington crossed the line third.
Garrett Thicke won the ANTS Complete Pest Control Hornet feature tonight with 2 left turns remaining in the feature. Thicke passed Tom Farra who had been leading the race for the prior 9.5 laps to take the win. Tom Farra and Hunter Miller followed Thicke across the line.
Bailey Brown from Holmen, WI won the Trailer Race of Destruction tonight at the La Crosse Speedway.
Our next event at the La Crosse Speedway is Friday, August 13 for the Premier Powder Coating Street Drags.
