(West Salem, WI – April 24, 2016) Mother Nature played nicely with us today and kept the rain at bay. We had a great day for racing at the Annual Frostbuster race to open the racing season. Both Late Model and Sportsmen track records were broke today during qualifying. Ty Majeski broke the 2 year old record with a 19.482sec. Majeski also won the 6 for 6 dash and went on to win the Nascar Late Model feature.
The Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model feature saw Matt Henderson take the lead at the drop of the green. Majeski was hard charging to the front ever since the green dropped. By lap 9 Majeski was to the front and never looked back. Steve Carlson passed Matt Henderson for 2nd and held it until the checkered flag flew. Shawn Pfaff and Brad Powell battled hard for the 5th position for quite a few laps. When Majeski took the checkers, he was followed by Steve Carlson, Mike Carlson, Adam Degenhardt and Brad Powell.
Steve Bachman, of the Deans Satellite & Security Sportsmen, broke last year’s track record tonight with a 21.242 sec. but late in the feature had some issues with the car and he finished the night 6th.
Bill Martin and Randy Humfeld brought the field to the green flag and Martin lead the 1st lap. Brian Hesselberg was fast from the get go but got loose and fell to 5th. Rick Schermerhorn was cruising to the front and took the lead from Martin on lap 3 and never wavered from the lead. Hesselberg took 2nd followed by Randy Humfeld, Nick Clements and Bill Martin.
The Auto Value Thunderstox had one caution for debris on the track. After that we went green to checkered with Jason Bolster being the Victor.
ANTS Complete Pest Control Hornets saw a big 6 car wreck on their 1st lap on the front stretch. After all of the mess was cleaned up, Jordan Young was the 1st to see the Checkered flag.
With the a new sponsor on board, The Subway Outlawz went caution free with Jason Stark being the 1st to cross the finish line.
The next event on the Speedway calendar is Friday May 13 with Premier Powdercoating Street Drags.
