PFAFF AND CARLSON WAGE A GREAT DUAL IN FEATURE

By: Stephanie Johnson
(West Salem, WI – May 30, 2015) Fans were treated to two Late Model features at LaCrosse Speedway, and it was Brad Powell and Shawn Pfaff taking home the wins.

The 1st feature saw Cole Howland and Jerimy Wagner bring the 21 car field to the green flag.

Jason Dummer brought out the 1st caution of the night on lap 11, going around in turn 4, but was able to stay in the race.

The orange cone was put out and Brad Powell took the race lead with Harley Jankowski to his outside. Behind Powell was Steve Carlson, looking for his 4th straight feature win.

2nd caution of the night, with 3 laps to go, involved 4 cars and they were all sent to the back of the field. This set up a wild couple of laps, as Scott Rand spun on the back stretch to bring out the 3rd caution of the evening with one lap to go.

With a green/white start, Powell took the lead but had to fight off the always tough Steve Carlson. Powell took home the victory in the 1st Feature of the night, with Steve Carlson taking 2nd and Harley Jankowski taking 3rd.

The 2nd Feature for the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Models saw Ty Majeski and Shawn Pfaff take the green flag. Very quickly, Majeski and Pfaff pulled away from the field as a two car tandem.

Majeski was the leader at half but Pfaff was all over his bumper. Pfaff passed Majeski on the inside going down the back straight coming into turn 3 with 8 laps to go.

With 4 laps to go, Steve Carlson took the 2nd spot from Majeski, and maneuvered his way up to Shawn Pfaff. Lapped traffic played a part in both of those passes.

At the Checkered, Shawn Pfaff held off Steve Carlson for his 1st feature win of the season. Carlson brought home 2nd and Majeski took 3rd.

Points leader Nick Clements started mid pack in the Dean’s Satellite Sportsmen feature, but with 7 laps to go he passed Jason Dummer for the lead. Once around Dummer, Clements never looked back and took home his 2nd feature victory of the season.

Andy Moore won the Auto Value Thunderstox feature after passing race leader Bill Schott at the half way point. Bill Schott took 2nd, and Kyle Lockington took home 3rd place.

Garrett Thicke captured the checkered flag in the ANTS Complete Pest Control Hornet feature with a great charge at the end by Steve Bornitz, who ended up second, followed by third place finisher Patrick Thicke.
