INAUGURAL LATE MODEL SHOOTOUT THIS SATURDAY AT LACROSSE SPEEDWAY

Match Race Bracket

(West Salem, WI) August 28, 2012 – For the first time in Speedway history this Saturday, Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model drivers at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway will be participating in a new event. This event, titled the Volden Construction Shootout: Late Model Match Race, is a bracketed match race of the top eight drivers in the speedway’s Late Model division.

Drivers will be paired up to go head to head, one on one for three laps in each match race. The lowest seeded driver in each pairing will get to start on the inside lane. Each winning driver will advance to the next round. In each bracket, four drivers start in round one, where the two winners advance to each semi-final, and each semi-final winner advances to the finals. The final match race is a “best 2 out of 3,” with each match being a 3 lap race.

“I’m looking forward to this. It should be a fun and exciting unique event; both for the fans and the drivers as well,” commented Shawn Pfaff, 1993 and 2010 Late Model Champion. “It’s the last event of the night, after our feature race is done, so we’re just going to lay it all out on the table. We have four weeks to fix it before Oktoberfest if anything happens to the car; it should be interesting,” concluded Pfaff.

The top seeded driver, point leader Todd Korish, will face Cole Howland in round one. Also in Korish’s bracket will be Brad Powell against J. Herbst. The second bracket will feature Mike Carlson against Shawn Pfaff, and the final pairing of Matthew Henderson against Brent Kirchner.

In addition to the Late Model Shootout, this Saturday fans will see the final weekly racing action of the season, presented by USG, featuring the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Models, North Country Contractors Sportsmen and United Auto Supply Thunderstox. Gates open at 6:00, qualifying begins at 6:15 and the first green flag takes place at 7:30. General Admission is $12, Students age 12-17 are $6, Kids age 6-11 are $4 and children age 5 & under are Free.

Additional upcoming excitement at the track includes the Wisconsin Lottery Eve of Destruction on Saturday September 8th, Street Drags on Friday September 14th, and the 43rd annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend, October 4th-7th. The track’s final event in 2012 will showcase the Street Drags 300′ Bracket Nationals on Saturday October 13th.
