Ronald McDonald House Charities Hosts MASCS at LAX

Ronald McDonald House Charities will bring Mid-American Stock Car Series (MASCS) to LaCrosse for a rare second 2012 event this Saturday, June 2nd. LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway along with Rockford Speedway have loyally hosted Mid-American for years. Traditionally, Rockford has opened the Mid-American season with its ‘Spring Classic’; LaCrosse has closed the point season with the famous “Oktoberfest”. Mid-American is also inviting all Series alumni to attend the event at no charge to help celebrate the 20th season. If you have seriously competed in the Series in the last 20 years, contact Mid-American by going to the contact page on the Mid-Am website.

New blood has tested the experience of the veterans in the first two races of the 20th anniversary Mid-American season. Ryan is the name to beat at LaCrosse Saturday. 2012 Rookie contender, Ryan Farrell, showed the way at the season opener in Rockford. Ryan had quick time and marched to the front handily winning the feature event.

Memorial day found Mid-American at Golden Sands Speedway. Again, another Ryan started the day with quick time. Ryan Gutknecht logged his first Mid-American career quick time. The wily veterans show they are far from beaten when multi champ, James Swan, led another veteran, Jeremy Spoonmore and two other champions, Lyle Nowak and Bill Prietzel to the checkered flag.

As the season cranks up, the 5/8-mile LaCrosse Speedway will test the skills of the new and veteran racers on the longest track of the season. Local favorites Tom McClintock and Dan Gilster will test whether their home court advantage is enough to beat the experience of the journeyman Mid-American racers. The 2011 Oktoberfest proves it could be a mix of both when veterans James Swan and Jeremy Spoonmore lead Dan Gilster to the line in the feature event.
