The contenders for 2012?

It’s the dawn of a new season. Will we see a similar championship chase in each division like last season, or will the new year bring out new challengers and new champions? J. Herbst is gunning for his third Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model title in four years. But hold on…. Todd Korish has something to say about that. Looks like the #32 Late Model will be gunning for Herbst’s title this year. Shawn Pfaff, two-time champ will also be one of the hard chargers contending for the crown. And then there’s the return of 2001 Champ Brad Powell – a force definitely to be reckoned with. A couple young guns with a few seasons now under their belt we may see rise to the top: Matthew Henderson, Jerimy Wagner and Cole Howland. Watch out J., there’s a full field of Late Models out to challenge you.

With Dan Gilster not racing this year, the North Country Contractors Grand National Sportsmen division looks like it’s anyone’s game. Look for heavy hitters Randy Humfeld and Greg Scheck to challenge for a title. Young Guns Steve Bachman, Brian Hesselberg, Jake Arneson and Branden Berg should also be in the hunt. Surprises? You’ll likely see some this season in Sportsmen.

Although the Moore family has been dominant in recent years in United Auto Supply Thunderstox, Adam, then Andy, look for the always smooth and in contention Jason Bolster to be right at the top. Veterans Nathan White, Chris Weber, and Jason Schaller look to challenge Adam this year, in addition to rookies Tim Murphy and Rick Babcock from the Window World Hornet division. Recent rookies Jordan Myers and Dustin Bagstand should also be near the top of the crop in 2012.
