LATE MODEL SHOWDOWN THIS SATURDAY AT LACROSSE

(West Salem, WI) August 30, 2011 – For the first time in Speedway history this Saturday, Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model drivers at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway will be participating in a new match race shootout. The event, titled the Volden Construction Late Model Showdown is a bracketed match race of eight of the top drivers in the speedway’s Late Model division.

“I’m looking forward to it, and it should be intense,” commented second seeded driver Todd Korish. “Hopefully nothing happens to anyone’s car, since we still have a point race at the Oktoberfest Race Weekend, but it should be a lot of fun and something different at the track for the fans,” concluded Korish.

Drivers will be paired up to go head to head, one on one for three laps in each match race. Winning driver will advance to the next round. In each bracket, four drivers start in round one, the two winners advance to each semi-final and one advances to the finals. The final match race pairs up the semi-final winner of each bracket, and is a “best 2 out of 3,” each being a 3 lap match race.

In the first round, the first bracket will consist of Point leader J. Herbst against Jes Tenner, while Brent Kirchner will race against Matthew Henderson. In the second bracket, Nick Clements will race against Todd Korish while Steve Carlson and Shawn Pfaff will be the final match race of the first round.

In addition to the Late Model Showdown, this Saturday is the final weekly racing action of the season, featuring the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Models, North Country Contractors Sportsmen and United Auto Supply Thunderstox. Gates open at 6:00, qualifying begins at 6:15 and the first green flag takes place at 7:30.
