WEST SALEM, WI – Officials of the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway have announced a blockbuster schedule for 2024! The season will be compiled of weekly racing, destruction events, a historic Inaugural Interstate Fair Super Late Model Spectacular, Thursday Night Street Drags, The 55th consecutive running of the grandaddy of midwestern short track racing – the Oktoberfest Race Weekend, and much more.
Highlighting a diverse range of motorsport events, the 2024 Season reaches a variety of thrill seekers whom are craving a satisfaction for speed, adrenaline, and excitement. From the thunder of stock car races to earth rattling destructions events, LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway has crafted a schedule for a summer of fun for everyone!
The 2024 oval track stock car racing season will kick off on Saturday Afternoon, May 18th presented by Budwesier. The season includes a variety of classes on both the 5/8th mile and recently repaved ¼ mile action track, including the NASCAR Sanctioned Late Models, Sportsmen, & Hornets, plus 6 Shooters, Mini Vans, Street Stocks, and a “High School Student only” class. Expect a variety of crazy off the wall bonus races, “novelty events” to be the icing on the cake all season long.
“I don’t believe it. Another season is upon us,” commented Director of Competition Ray Loughan. Loughan has served that role since the late 1980’s, a truly passionate member of the track community.
“It’s no secret that families and thrill seekers enjoy the craziness and destruction of signature events,” commented Zack Kohlmeier, Speedway Special Services Coordinator. Those events include the SMASH-O-RAMA on Saturday, June 15th , the Trailer Race of Destruction on Saturday, August 3rd, and the Night of Destruction on Saturday, September 7th. “We have some great stunts and thrills planned this year, and we can’t wait to entertain all of our guests that come into the track,” concluded Kohlmeier.
But the big news was a huge new event to be held on Wednesday night during the 133rd LaCrosse Interstate Fair – the Reffner 88 presented by Sleepy Hollow Auto, Wednesday, July 17th, 2024. This event will feature twin 44- lap features which will each pay $8,888 to win, while a $2,224 bonus will be awarded to the top overall finisher, making it possible for one driver to walk away with an unprecedented $20,000 payday! “This Race promises to draw a full field of teams, offering fans a chance to see spectacular Super Late Model Racing that LaCrosse offers, more than once a season (Oktoberfest),” offered Andy Jandt, Speedway’s timing and scoring facilitator.
Street Drags return for the 2024 Season, again on Thursday nights. It’s fun where anyone with a driver’s license can enter, have some fun, and drag race their own car down the front stretch of the racetrack. There’s also a Shine n’ Show Car Show and Burnout Contest at every Street Drags night.
The 55th Annual running of the historic Oktoberfest Race Weekend takes place OCT 3rd through 6th, offering four days of stock car racing, legendary after race parties, special challenge races, super late models, the famous camper village, and 700 laps of feature racing!
