(West Salem, WI – June 20, 2009) - Sometimes the fastest car doesn’t win. And sometimes it does. It was one of those nights where everything fell into place for one of the fastest drivers this season. West Salem’s J. Herbst has been fast since opening night, but after a few early season accidents, and the bad luck out of the way, it was his night to celebrate in the winners’ circle.

It was a night of firsts on a fantastic evening of racing at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Twenty-three year old Emily Sue Steck went home with her first feature win in her third full season in the Late Model Division. It was also the first time that a female driver had taken home the checkers in that division.

BloodCenter of Wisconsin, together with the La Crosse Speedway and La Crosse Radio group, is encouraging La Crosse residents to get out and give blood at this year’s La Crosse 200 Community Blood Drive Tuesday, June 23 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24 at the La Crosse Center, 300 Harborview Plaza.

(West Salem, WI.) Officials from LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway have cancelled the racing events scheduled for Saturday June 6th. Due to persistent rain, unseasonably cold temperatures, combined with more showers and storms on the way, NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing presented by Powerade will not take place tonight.

Fans were on their feet Saturday as Brad Powell held off advances from multiple drivers to win the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Models feature.

It all started with the front three cars going three wide into turn one. Not two laps later Tony Bagstad, then in third, spun in the front stretch.

Fans were out full force Saturday night to witness Jeff Baker and Kevin Nuttleman battle side by side for the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model checkered flag. When they crossed the finish line Baker was a half a car length ahead of Nuttleman.

BloodCenter of Wisconsin wants to know “Why are you Grateful that People Give Blood?

Or: “Why do you donate blood?”

Why is blood donation important to you? Is it because you have a relative with cancer who regularly needs platelets? Likewise, why do you give blood? Is it because you know someone who was in a severe car accident and needed blood in order to survive? BloodCenter of Wisconsin wants to hear your stories.
