POWELL GRABS 2ND FEATURE OF THE YEAR

By: Stephanie Johnson
(West Salem, WI – June 27, 2015) Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Models saw Mike Carlson come from row two to lead the 1st lap of the Klements 25 feature. In tow was Brad Powell and Steve Carlson. This trio led the field until Jonathan Eckleberg spun in turn 3 with 11 laps to go.

On the restart, Mike Carlson and Powell take the front row. When the green flag dropped, Powell takes the lead with 10 laps to go.

The entire field was single file as Travis Christenson got wild and loose in turns 3 & 4 and went around with 4 laps to go.

After the orange cone chess match, Powell and Mike Carlson take the front row for the restart as Steve Carlson decides to take the high side and position 3. When the green flag flew, a father and son chase was on. Steve quickly passed Mike to take the 2nd position. At the checkered flag, Brad Powell was declared the winner of his 2nd feature of the year. “We worked hard on the car to get it where it is tonight” said Powell with his on track interview.

The Dean’s Satellite Sportsmen Klements 15 saw a wild ride for Jeff Thompson as he was hit from behind. Thompson’s axle flew out from under the car as he went spinning down the front stretch taking Bill Martin with him. Both drivers were checked by our award winning track safety crew and deemed OK. Martin ran over to check on Thompson. That showed a true sign of sportsmanship.

Once clean-up was completed, Jamie Dummer and Nick Clements took the pole for the restart. The green flagged dropped and “Ka-chow” Nick Clements was in, around and gone from Dummer.

Tuxedo Tony Leis got loose in turn 4 but was able to get his car under control and then take over the 2nd place.

Clements held a large margin and won his 4th feature of the season with Leis, Dummer, Hesselberg and Gilster rounding out the top 5.

Auto Value Thunderstox took to the track for the Klements 15 with Scott Mahlum and Nate White on the pole. Nate White took an early lead as Mahlum and Pfaff hit the tires.

Andy Moore soon took the lead from White and that was all that it took. Moore had a clean sweep tonight with taking Fast time, heat, dash and Feature wins.

Trevor Zeller claimed his first Auto Value Street Stock feature win, holding off Keith Larson, Al Bartels, Andy Feldkamp and John Eron.
